Schools have to manage an ever increasing amount of data. Part of this growth is due to the requirements of other agencies; the need to provide timely, accurate data can at times preoccupy schools at the expense of using their data for a school improvement focus.

Management Information Systems (MIS) provide a way for schools to store, organise and extract this data in ways which support school improvement.
